I've been accessing my att.net emails by going to the Yahoo.com website. I want to access them from Outlook 365 on my Windows 11 pc. When I select 'New account' I get 'Somethng went wrong and Outlook couldn't set up your account'. This always happens, whether or not I select 'let me set up my account manually'. I have added a secure key and that didn't help.

I don't get to Step 3. That's when I get the error. I'm able to view emails just fine in the iPhone app. This only happens on my Windows 11 PC.

Hi @brustad! Thank you for writing us back. We understand that you're unable to set up your email account on your Windows 11 computer. We hear you, and happy to assist you.

We recommend that you try creating a secure mail key and try signing in to your email account.

It’s easy to create a secure mail key from your mobile device, tablet, or computer. Have your User ID and password ready to sign in to myAT&T.

  1. Go to your myAT&T Profile. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Scroll to My linked accounts, select the email account that needs a secure mail key.
  3. Scroll to Secure mail key, select Manage secure mail key.
  4. Choose the email address that you’d like to use, if you have more than one.
  5. Select Add secure mail key. Enter a nickname for the secure mail key to make it easy to recognize.
  6. Choose Create secure mail key.
  7. Select Copy secure mail key to clipboard. Make a note of your secure mail key for further updates.
    • For security purposes, the secure mail key only displays until you select OK.
    • If you lose or forget the secure mail key, you can always create new secure mail keys.
  8. Select OK.
  9. Go to your preferred email app, replace the existing password with your secure mail key. For an IMAP account, delete the existing password for both the IMAP and SMTP servers. Replace them with your secure mail key.

Good to know: Each device you use to access your email will have its own secure mail key.

You can also access your email account on the web:

  1. Go to currently.com.
  2. Select Mail.
  3. Enter your email address and password.
  4. Get your authentication security code. If you have more than one phone number on your account, choose which number should get your code.
  5. Enter the code and click Submit to sign in.

For more information please visit our article about check your AT&T email and create a secure mail key.

Let us know how it goes.

For further assistance we're here to assist you.

Thank you.

I've done steps 1 thu 8 (building the secure key), but I'm unable to do step 9 in Outlook because I can't get to that point due to the error. In the ios app in my iphone I tried putting the secure key in as the password and it rejected it. It accepted my old (pre-secure key) password so I don't know whether it's the secure key it wants on the PC.

I have no problem accessing my email in Yahoo (Currently) using my old password.
