'FBoy Island' Host Nikki Glaser Learned Stand-Up By Watching This 'Dark' Comedian (2024)

Nikki Glaser is back to host the second season of HBO Max's reality dating show FBoy Island.

“I’m so happy to say it’s even better than the first season,” Nikki wrote on Instagram, “Thank god. Who knew if it would be?? But it is. IT IS.”

Raunchy reality format? Check. Gorgeous locales? Check. Hotttt contestants? Check.

The show drops its second season on Thursday, July 14 , and sends three *lucky* women to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. There, they'll encounter 26 men who fall into two types: those who identify as “nice guys,” and those who consider themselves “F-boys.”

The men compete to avoid elimination and win a $100,000 cash prize.

But the best part of the show might be its hilariously relatable host, Nikki Glaser. The 38-year old stand-up comedian and podcaster is a seasoned television, radio, and internet personality. (Talk about multi-faceted!)

Here's what you need to know about Nikki:

She’s a stand-up comedian.

Nikki has appeared in multiple stand-up specials and late-night tv appearances. Her raunchy jokes center around her most humiliating moments as a woman in the modern world, according to her official bio.

She calls herself "a complete open book on mic," and tackles tough topics like her struggles with anorexia, depression, and anxiety. But she's not just doing it for LOLs. Her goal is to be "the voice for women that she yearned for as a young, confused, adolescent herself."

She's currently on tour, doing a theater show called “One Night with Nikki Glaser.”

Her inspiration is Sarah Silverman.

At the age of 10, Nikki would watch comedians on TV with her parents.

And before she started performing stand-up comedy, Nikki looked to the pros for inspiration.

I went onto Google and typed in ‘girl comedian,’” Nikki told the Wall Street Journal. “I started reading her jokes. I realized I could do this. She was saying really dark stuff, but she was adorable.”

Which makes a lot of sense given her recent routines.

Nikki recently moved back to St. Louis.

Nikki grew up in Des Peres, a suburb of St. Louis, and left town at 18 to attend the University of Kansas. She started doing stand-up in her dorm room, according to St. Louis Public Radio.

Pre-pandemic, she split her time between New York and Los Angeles. But when COVID took hold, she moved back in with her parents. Today, she's working from St. Louis and got her own apartment.

"I just always kind of resigned myself to the fact that I would only visit for the holidays and not really get to see my niece and nephew grow up, and watch my parents grow up," she told St. Louis Public Radio. "And now it's like, I'm kind of settling in and learning that I can actually have this career from St. Louis, and it's pretty great.”

She's the queen of the celeb roast.

Dubbed "one of the best celeb roasters of all time" by The Daily Beast, Nikki has poked fun at everyone from Bruce Willis to Alec Baldwin to Rob Lowe. (Spoiler: Some of her zings are v. v. NSFW.)

Nikki says her lack of “empathy,” while complicating her personal life, means she can really "go there" at roasts. “It’s allowed me to be so brazen on stage and say things that most people wouldn’t,” she said in an interview with The Daily Beast. "Because I’m not thinking about how people will react.”

Nikki's been a contestant on a reality show.

Nikki's not only a fan of reality TV—she's competed on a show herself. She briefly appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2018.

She told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she always wanted to be on The Real World, but was worried she’d do something that would define her forever. “You’re signing up to do a show you don’t have control over. ... Every bad side of you is shown,” she says. “That’s brave to put yourself out there like that.”

She hosts a podcast with her BFF.

Nikki is currently the host of The Nikki Glaser Podcast which streams daily on iheartradio and Big Money Players Network. She records the podcast with her roommate and best friend Andrew Collin in their guest room! (How cute is that.)

Her dad plays in a band—and she's their biggest fan.

Nikki is a supportive daughter who speaks highly of her family. Her dad plays in a band called “Glaze and the Moonkings” and she is constantly talking them up on Instagram. She adorably says that people should check out her dad because “he’s legit good.”
