Betty B. Rust Obituary - 2021 (2024)

Betty B Rust, (aka Mother Rust) age 88 of Eaton Ohio, passed away on April 23, 2021 from complications from a fall. She is survived by son Michael Rust; daughter Janice Taynor; granddaughter Cassidy Rust; daughter-in-law Diana Lubic; brother-in-law Lowell & Mary Rust and their children; sister-in-law Barbara Worley and her children; along with many close friends including Betty Dunlap, Charlie and Coleen Puissegur, Mike & Kelly Stockdale. Betty May Brown was born in Norman, OK and moved to Dayton, OH with her parents, Lonny & Charity Brown in the late 1950's. Betty was hired by NCR (National Cash Register) as a secretary where she walked to meetings with a natural smile, bubbly personality and slight wiggle in her hips. Ralph Rust, who was also working there, noticed this young woman and knew the union had to be. They were married in 1960 and moved to Eaton, OH, near where Ralph was raised on a farm as a child. By the end of 1963, Betty was a full-time, proud mother of two. She fully supported her husband and all his duties as President of the Eaton Optimist club while caring for her aging parents and in-laws. Mother Rust was a devoted member and supporter of The Grace Lutheran Church, Eaton OH. Mother Rust loved to go on long folk walks, bowl with her church lady friends, enjoyed square dancing, camping in the woods, and was always welcoming and friendly to everyone she met. She helped at all school activities for her children and ran taxi services to all sporting and outdoor activities. Mother Rust was a proud, beaming parent when Janice graduated from Sinclair College. She traveled to Spring Green, WI and met Mrs. Frank Lloyd Wright, (wife of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright) where Michael was training to be an architect. She visited Branson, MO to see many shows in the Shoji Tabuchi theater. She even spray painted her name on an old Cadillac outside of Amarillo, TX several times as she was driving by. She lived life to its fullest, and was an amazing wife, mother and friend. Everyday, Betty lived her life to be the best Christian she could be. She touched the lives of many and will be missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Life for Mother Rust will be held sometime near the end of September at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Alexandria.. A graveside Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM on September 11, 2021 at the Preble Memory Gardens Funeral Center - 3377 US Rt. 35 E., West Alexandria, OH.
