How often do I need to work on my competencies?

While Tempo is flexible, you should plan to spend 15-20 hours per week to make continual progress in your program. Students who wish to finish their program at an accelerated rate will need to spend more than this.

Please be aware that there are also minimum requirements to stay enrolled in Tempo. For more information, please see engagement with the learning platform in the student handbook.

Can I take a class at another education provider and transfer it in?

This will depend. Here are some things to think about:

  • Is the course you wish to take elsewhere transferrable? You can find this information on the program of study that was prepared for you when you were admitted to the university.
  • Are you aware of the transfer of credit maximum for your program? Do you have credits you can still take before reaching the maximum? Each program has a maximum number of credits you can transfer in. Please see here for the transfer of credit maximums.
  • Can you commit to earning a C or higher for undergraduate courses or a B or higher for graduate courses?
  • If you receive financial aid, do you understand how completing the course elsewhere will impact your credits needed to earn your next disbursem*nt? Coursework you complete externally and transfer in does not count towards the credits you need to earn your next disbursem*nt.
  • Do you understand how coursework taken elsewhere impacts your satisfactory academic progress? Coursework you transfer into the program impacts your program completion percentage differently than coursework you take in the program.
